Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto banned from revealing his hobbies
The reason? His hobbies might be the basis for the next big video game! Most Nintendo fans know that the company’s Pikmin franchise was inspired by Shigeru Miyamoto’s interest in gardening, while Nintendogs was born after he experienced his own puppy. According to sources at Nintendo, the game designer “has been banned by the company from speaking publicly about his hobbies.” And that’s because “any glimpse inside his head could be worth billions.”
The Times Online report says, “In short, the gaming and investment communities are wondering which of his current pastimes will be translated into a virtual rendition that will attract millions of sales five years from now.” While Shigeru Miyamoto has often cited childhood experiences as inspiring the likes of Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, more recent titles have been attributed to his various hobbies like Wii Music and Wii Fit which came about following his interest in those subjects.
