banned film appears on P2P sites!

Time to download boys and girls! Hehe! The banned film is The Profit which was blocked from distribution in the United States due to a court injunction won by the Church of Scientology. Copies of the banned film appeared on the internet last Friday on peer-to-peer file-sharing websites and on the video sharing site YouTube. Directed by former film executive Peter N. Alexander, the movie has been characterized by critics as a parody of Scientology and of its founder L. Ron Hubbard. Alexander has stated that the movie is based on his research into cults, and when asked by the St. Petersburg Times about parallels to Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard said: “I’ll let you draw that conclusion … I say it’s entirely fictional.”

However, the Church of Scientology later took legal action in an attempt to stop further distribution of the film. The Church of Scientology claimed that the film was intended to influence the jury pool in the wrongful death case of Scientologist Lisa McPherson, who died under Scientology care in Clearwater, Florida. According to the original court injunction received by Wikinews, the movie was originally banned because the court found that it could be seen as a parody of Scientology. In his April 20, 2002 ruling on the injunction, Judge Robert E. Beach of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Pinellas County, Florida wrote: “…an average person viewing the film entitled The Profit could perceive that it is a parody of the Church of Scientology”.

watch banned BOONDOCKS episode here!

HURRY!!! Before this one is taken down, lol!

The Canadian Press is reporting that two episodes of Aaron McGruder’s Cartoon Network strip “The Boondocks” that were pulled from the schedule for content are currently airing north of the border on Canada’s Teletoon channel. The episode “The Huey Freeman Hunger Strike” aired last Sunday (entire episode above.), while “The Ruckus Reality Show” will be featured this coming Sunday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on the network’s adult-themed “Detour” programming block.

The two episodes in question were pulled by the Turner Cable-owned Cartoon Network because of its brutal bashing of BET. BET’s CEO, Debra Lee, is depicted in “Hunger Strike” as “Debra Lee-vil,” a sinister Dr. Evil clone who kills underlings and rants about creating a network “that would accomplish what hundreds of years of slavery, Jim Crow and malt liquor couldn’t – the destruction of black people.” ROFL!

Persepolis banned in Lebanon!

persepolis2.gif

Lebanese authorities have banned “Persepolis” after fears it may exacerbate the fragile political situation there. Persepolis, an animated movie, was nominated for animated feature at last month’s Academy Awards. It is based on co-director Marjane Satrapi’s autobiographical, bestselling graphic novel about growing up in Iran during the 1979 revolution.

Authorities likely want to avoid any potential fallout from offending pro-Iranian members of the Lebanese opposition, notably Hezbollah. “They want to stay on the safe side and not create any more friction,” said Gianluca Chacra, topper at United Arab Emirates-based distrib Front Row Entertainment, which is handling the pic’s Mideast release. “We’re still hoping for a DVD release in Lebanon.”

MTV bans Gnarls Barkley’s RUN

Nope, Run’s music video wasn’t banned in MTV for excessive violence or explicit sexual images. It was banned because it MAY CAUSE SEIZURES! I’m not kidding! LOL! It was deemed that the music video, which features a cameo appearance from Justin Timberlake, may trigger epileptic seizures with its strobe-like effects. According to MTV, it failed the Harding Test, which judges whether TV images may cause seizures. Says Danger Mouse,

“I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but we’re having issues. I think (the video) is cool. It works for me. But I’m not necessarily that easily seasick.”

Gnarls Barkley’s RUN music video is below. Again, watching it MAY CAUSE SEIZURES!
