sexy Tom Ford sunglasses ad banned!

A sexually suggestive Tom Ford sunglasses print ad showing a woman’s lips biting a man’s finger was banned in Italy Tuesday for being too “vulgar.” The sexy print, already published in three Italian’s womens’ magazines, has been banned by the Italian Advertising Institute (IAA) as being too “sexually implicit”.

The ad, however is still viewable on TomFord.com (go see it!!) — with the warning “Sexually Explicit Images”. Aside from the banned ad, the website of the American designer show ads of a naked woman clutching the crotch of a man in a suit, and another of a naked woman ironing whilst man drinks champagne and clutches a cigar.

The IAA’s ruling said the image was “deeply vulgar and went beyond bad taste to actually offend the public’s sensibility.” It deplored the “explicit and provocative character” of the image which “goes beyond acceptable limits for advertising aimed at the general public.” The ad “is an offensive gesture which insults women and the dignity of all”, it concluded.

ASA bans violent Kane & Lynch ads!

The Advertising Standards Authority is putting Eidos under fire for violent posters advertising Kane & Lynch: Dead Men for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in the UK. Eidos says as soon as complaints were made of the posters, they were replaced with alternative designs. A poster, two magazine adverts and a TV ad received a number of complaints from the public, citing scenes of disturbing violence, which were perceived to condone violence, particularly towards women.

The majority of the 26 complaints were about a poster depicting two men and a woman. The latter was seating the foreground, bound and gagged. One of the men was holding her head back by the hair, wearing surgical gloves and speaking into a mobile phone. The other man held a rifle, standing behind the first. A quote, identified as being from Official Xbox 360 Mag, appeared on the poster, stating: “Grittier and nastier in tone than anything you’ve seen before, the violence here is visceral, brutal and very, very real.”

Speedo’s newest bodysuit could be banned!

A revolutionary bodysuit that British swimmers hope will help them power to medals at the Beijing Olympics could be banned. The skintight Speedo LZR Racer costume, which was developed with help from NASA scientists, has been worn in 16 world record-breaking swims in just six weeks since its launch, and now swimmers are clamoring to try it. But the sport’s governing body is worried that, because it apparently helps swimmers go faster, wearing it could constitute cheating.

Speedo sponsors the British team and Caitlin McClatchey (22), who won two gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, is one of Britain’s brightest hopes and has already tried the costume. She said:

“I just dived in and it felt like I was gliding for ever. It was really effortless through the water.”

The LZR Racer, which Speedo spent £2million developing, works like an old-fashioned corset, squeezing a swimmer’s body into the sleekest shape possible. It is coated in water-resistant Teflon and welded together ultrasonically, meaning it has no noticeable seams.

banned Ryanair ad

Ryanair has branded the advertising regulator’s banning of its ad featuring a Britney Spears-style schoolgirl “absurd” and has vowed to keep running the campaign. The press ad was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority on the grounds that it could cause widespread offense because the image linked teenage girls with sexually provocative behaviour. Ryanair has issued a defiant statement branding the ASA as “Monty Pythonesque” and “out of touch”.

The low-cost airline said the ruling was “remarkable even by the absurd standards of the ASA quango” because, Ryanair claimed, the picture featured a fully clothed model. Ryanair added that the image could not be considered offensive because newspapers, both mainstream and tabloid, frequently run pictures of topless models and celebrities “in various stages of undress”. So true! I wonder what ASA was thinking when they banned this quite harmless print ad. Tsk!

London’s Tube bans nude Venus poster!

venusposter.jpgYup, even at this day and age, nude classical works are still being banned *shakes head* Feels like we’re in the Dark Age or something! Anyhoo, for some reason, the authority who handles the London’s Tube ads banned a 16th century painting of Venus featuring the Roman goddess of love wearing little but a smile has been deemed too risque for the eyes of Tube travelers. The banned poster of the 1532 work by German artist Lucas Cranach the Elder was to promote an upcoming Royal Academy exhibition. Of course, the Academy was incensed. But Transport for London, which operates the Tube network, is unmoved.

A spokesman said, “Millions of people travel on the London Underground each day and they have no choice but to view whatever adverts are posted there. We have to take account of the full range of travelers and endeavor not to cause offense in the advertising we display.” Advertising standards states that posters can not “Depict men, women or children in a sexual manner, or display nude or semi-nude figures in an overtly sexual context.” Just look at the poster — is it depicting a sexual manner?? I don’t think so!

Sorry, girls not allowed!

After several incidents of their asses being grabbed, the indie rocker band “Kings of Leon” finally banned girls from taking pictures of them. Ooohh, that’s harsh! Says their frontman CALEB FOLLOWILL: “There’s too much grab-a**e action.” The easy on the eyes band, partial to wearing tight jeans, announced the ban last week. Maybe this girl has something to do with it?? Check her out!
